Next Adventure

I've figured out my next adventure. I'm going to do it. Well... there are a few factors that could keep me from doing it, but here's the plan:
I will apply and be accepted into the masters program for Early Intervention/Early Childhood Special Ed, beginning summer term 2006. I will apply for and receive a position with either the Mulnomah ESD or the NWRESD (and I'd even go as far as to work for the Clackamas ESD) as a Special Ed teacher for s/y 2006/2007 w/ an emergency licensure, since I will be in the program at PSU.
There is no corsework required in the summer of 2007, and since I'll have that summer off from work, I will have the time to bike the Lewis & Clark Trail. It's 3200 miles, so if I average 50 miles per day, I can do it in 64 days. If I average 10mph, I can conceivably ride 80 miles per day, which gives me the capablility to have 24 zero days and still finish in 64 days.
If Teatree comes with me, we will even be able to slack the first day. Her mom lives in St. Louis, down the street from the Trailhead Brewing Company. We can slack to Trailhead, have dinner, then sleep at her mom's house. To me, that sounds like a fantastic idea. And if Teatree can't come, I'm sure her mom wouldn't mind slacking me. I'm good old fashioned hiker trash (soon to be biker trash, but when you say biker trash, does that conjer up the wrong mental picture? Something to ponder).
Anyway, I'm very excited about this plan. In order to begin to accomplish this plan, I need to set up an appointment w/ Dr. Leslie Munson at PSU to find out what I need to do to get into the program. Then I need to kiss her ass and all the administrative asses at PSU in order to get into the program. That's really what I need to be thinking about right now. Instead, I'm reading my book about the Lewis & Clark Trail and figuring out where I'm going to sleep and what I'm going to eat when I get to Idaho. I love the dreaming phase of adventures, don't you?
